Hafteam Artist Pleasant Peasantry

This week's featured artists of the Hafteam is Pleasant Peasantry, a husband and wife team who share a passion of all things handmade. In fact, the name of their shop is derived from their outlook on life, which is keeping it simple, old and natural.

If you take a peek into their shop you will find a wonderful array of pottery and macrame. Each of these forms of art have some deep roots in history, but they are something that can be tweaked here and there and become new again.

Such a piece is the lovely ceramic jar. I just love the blue sapphire color in this one. It's brilliancy is outstanding and compliments the the green speckled body very nicely.

I chose this adorable bright red macramed dragonfly to show how the art of working with hemp is still very much alive. The heart-shaped eyes on this cute little fellow are just a hoot and gives it such character. This is actually a key fob, but he would be happy to go anywhere with you.

Be sure to stop by Pleasant Peasantry and see all the wonderful pieces they have created and if you go on over to their blog you can read about what's coming up next in their shop.
