Great Cozumel Cooking Tour

When I was going through my pictures I came across some I thought I would share.

These are a few pictures of a new tour that is now offered in Cozumel that I highly recommend. It is a cooking class of about 14 couples all learning to make 3 different authentic Mexican dishes: Chicken breast with olives, onions, green pepper and tomato, chorizo and potato stuffed tortillas and rice pudding.

We started the tour on a bus and headed out to one of the fancy resorts where there was a room all set up with about 7 cook stations. Each one was designed to accomodate 4 people and had 2 burners.

The first thing the staff did before anything got undeway was to pull out the bar and offer everyone complimentary drinks. Ralph and I chose margaritas (when in Rome) and whew, were they strong!

Next we were passed the various ingredients and talked through each step by a very funny chef named Juan. Honestly, he was part comedian.

After completing our dishes we were ushered up to the top of the building to a large dining facility and were served our dishes by the cooking staff. Since we had our names on the plates it was easy for them to deliver the correct dish. We all sat in long tables opposite one another and had a blast. A couple of ladies on the tour were well toasted by this time and were really hilarious.

Below are some of the pictures we took. I wish we would have taken more, but got too busy cooking, I guess. :)

Juan showing us different swirl techniques(left) and Ralph experimenting.

Overview of part of the room we used. Everyone was quite "happy" at this point of the tour as it was free booze. You can see the carts with all the plates getting ready for the oven.

I didn't get a picture of all that we made, but this is the end result of my rice pudding dish with my swirlys.

What a great idea!! We love Mexico, but hubby can't just sit on the beach for 7 days in a row, this would be perfect!! Great pictures!
