Goodbye to Michael Jackson

I am sure I am not the only one blogging about the "King of Pop" today as he is a world renowned artist that has touched so many lives in so many ways, good or bad.

I always felt sorry for him as I can't imagine what it must have been like growing up in a household that dominated every minute of your day. He never had a chance to just be a kid as he was always rehearsing getting ready for yet another gig his father set up for the boys.

No doubt he is a one-of-a-kind artist that will never be equaled, but behind that was a man that was seriously dysfunctional due to the mayhem of his popularity. He was solitary; he was lonely; he was distrusting. Such a shame for anyone really.

Maybe this was his destiny as he certainly put his mark upon this earth. They say the truly great artists are very lonely people as their ideas and dreams are not the same as the everyday man. They are set apart just because they inspire some sort of awe and the public has a tendency to place them on a pedestal when, in actuality, they are as human as you or me and crave love, attention, acceptance and a sense of normalcy.

Isn't it ironic that the ingenious creative outlet that they pursue is the very thing that keeps them isolated.

I am sure the media is going to have a heyday for months to come and we will be inundated with rumor, speculation and even truths about this very famous figure, but I will always remember Michael Jackson for his love of music, his heart for humanity and his passion for peace among the races.

I hope Michael finds more peace of mind in the next life than he seemed to have in this earthly life.
